The artist has donated the complete sum of his £25k Mercury Prize cash to the Music Venues Trust, which operates to preserve the UK's grassroots live music spots.
Fender was presented with the award on mid-October as his latest record his work was named the best record of the past year.
Fender has opted to give the cash to the Music Venues Trust, in acknowledgment of the vital role small stages had in his beginning days.
"I would not have achieved my current career if it hadn't been for all the gigs I played around the North East, and elsewhere, when I was just getting going," stated Fender. "These spaces are legendary, but they are in difficulty."
Since the start of 2023, at least 150 of these spaces have shut down – roughly one-sixth of the whole industry in the UK.
Over the past year, top acts like Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the Music Venues Trust in its initiatives to help venues survive, by adding a modest fee to their admission fees, which supports smaller concert halls.
Sam Fender also joined in, raising more than £100,000 on his live tour to assist thirty-eight grassroots venues across England, Scotland, and Wales.
These funds supported spaces that were confronting imminent closure due to difficulties arising from water damage, fire incidents and bereavements, as well as licensing issues, legal disputes and sound issues.
Additional spaces were granted financial assistance in improving amenities and sound and lighting systems that helped musicians and audiences.
"The notion that revenue from shows in big venues helps the independent spots, where it kicks off for performers like me, is just common sense," Sam Fender has commented.
He is not the first artist to contribute his award funds to good deeds.
When they earned the prize in the mid-90s for their record their work, vocalist the singer announced that the group would give their prize money to the organization the charity.
In 2002, rapper and singer Ms Dynamite divided her prize across multiple charities, like the children's charity and a Sickle Cell organization.
"I also donated a £1,000 to the center, to their classes, because I trained in gymnastics when I was a child and they lacked updated gear," Ms Dynamite told the media.
Two years ago, the band gave their prize money to the youth organization that supported their act, in addition to other grassroots music organisations.
Also the 1994 recipients M People contributed their prize to a MS organization after a acquaintance was diagnosed the illness.
"Winning was sufficient," remarked singer the singer. "The cash was the cherry on top but we didn't need the cherry, because we had the honor. So our victory touched the lives of others."
Recently, the Music Venues Trust shared it had rescued a couple of local spots in the South East, by placing them under public stewardship.
The Joiners in the city and the other in that location were purchased under the Own Our Venues scheme, which is supported by the arts council and enthusiasts who buy "stakes" in the venues.
